The purpose behind any type of NFL trade is quite straightforward: Teams are trying to make themselves much better by obtaining skill, future assets, or sometimes, simply to clear up some much needed cap room. You assist me, I assist you. It’s supposed to be a win-win for both sides.

Now, in a lot of cases, both groups DO leave as “winners” in a smash hit trade. In several other cases, however, one group emerges as a major winner; the other a prominent loser.

Rarely do we see a blockbuster trade where both teams come away as complete losers … yet it happens.
