Cleveland was traded to the New England Patriots for Jordan Devey on August 18, 2015.[5] He was released by the Patriots on September 5 and signed to the team’s practice squad on September 6, 2015.[6][7] He was promoted to the active roster on November 27, 2015.

Cleveland has spent the 2015 season on the Patriots’ practice squad, often playing the role of the opponents’ top tight end on the scout team.

He had played in six games last season with the 49ers, with his primary contributions coming on special teams.
