Losing a pet is difficult. One moment you have a furry friend bounding through the halls, and the next moment the silence and sadness theyleave behindis almost too much to bear.

Terrell Watson, a NFL runningback for the Cleveland Browns, experienced just that. He came home from the gym one day to find his dog, Koda, had sadly passed away.

Then one morning, he woke up and realized that he missed having a friend there to wake him up every day, so he decided to go to the nearbyanimal shelter. Though he knew no one could ever take Koda’s place, Watsonadopteda 2-year-old pit bull named Dexter, and they’ve been all smiles ever since.

Sometimes there’s no better way to heal the pain of losing a beloved pet than to offer a second chance at life toa new animal. Pets areknown for their ability to make humans feel better in rough times. A hospital in Canada recently implemented a program that would allow pets to visit their owners for just that reason.

And judging by Watson and Dexter’s photos, their new bond seems to be working wonders for the both of them!

Terrell Watson, a football player for the Cleveland Browns, was devastated to find his dog Koda had passed away one morning.

Without his canine friend, the house seemed too quiet and empty, and he knew he needed to make a change.

Watson adopted 2-year-old pit bull, Dexter, from City Dogs Cleveland. Giving his new pal a second chance at life was just the pick-me-up Watson (and Dexter) needed.

The two were all smiles on the way home from the shelter. It was clear they both knew this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Now every morning, Watson has a loving, playful best friendto wake up to. It certainly isn’t quiet and lonely in his house anymore!

Losing a pet is always hard. Animals come into our lives and become the best friends we’ve ever had. When they’re gone, their absence can be hard to take. Sometimes filling the hole in our hearts with love for another animal is the best solution.

And while Dexter will never take the place of Koda, he and Watson can now look forward toalong and happy friendship together.
